iFarm and Hygrow introduce vertical farming technology in Switzerland

iFarm Corp has begun constructing its first robotic vertical farm in Switzerland, in partnership with Hygrow. Scheduled to commence operations in the summer of 2025, this facility will employ iFarm’s StackGrow technology. The farm will span 1,031 square meters and is expected to produce several tons of ultra-fresh vegetables monthly, which will be supplied to major retail chains across Switzerland.

Alex Lyskovsky, iFarm‘s founder and CEO, noted that despite significant challenges in the European vertical farming sector in recent years, the company has successfully navigated these hurdles through various projects in MENA countries and Indonesia. Now, iFarm is re-entering the European market with its top-tier, fully automated systems.

The iFarm StackGrow technology features movable trays for plant cultivation, which boosts plant density by 67% and doubles both monthly yield and revenue compared to semi-automated vertical farms. The farm will integrate automated systems for seeding, washing trays, and cutting plants, thereby reducing the need for manual labor and operational costs.

Hygrow expressed enthusiasm about introducing this innovative technology to Switzerland, highlighting the potential benefits of a sustainable alternative to conventional farming and imported vegetables.
