For Nel, the well-known Latin adage “nemo propheta in patria” seems not to apply: the Norwegian company, just days after securing a 40 MW PEM electrolysis contract with local operator Hydrogen Solutions, has achieved another success with GreenH, which has selected Nel to supply the electrolyzers for the Kristiansund and Slagentangen green hydrogen projects, supported by the Norwegian agency ENOVA.
The final scope of the supply, along with the actual capacity and delivery schedule, will be determined at a later stage. However, as stated by Nel in a press release, each electrolysis plant included in the agreement will have a minimum capacity of 10 MW, for a combined total exceeding 20 MW. GreenH is engaged in the development, construction, ownership, and operation of hydrogen production facilities powered by renewable energy, with the goal of establishing a network of distributed sites to support decarbonization across the maritime, transport, and industrial sectors. Among these are the Kristiansund and Slagentangen hubs.
“We have worked closely with Nel for an extended period to define the optimal electrolysis concept for Kristiansund and Slagentangen. We are very pleased to sign this agreement and welcome Nel as a partner in these two projects, which are of great strategic importance for GreenH,” emphasized the CEO of GreenH AS. “We are pleased to support GreenH in developing a regional hydrogen infrastructure in Norway, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration as the project progresses,” stated the CEO and Chairman of Nel ASA.
